XR Summit (2024)
On April 12th UCLA XRI hosted an in-person gathering focused on extended reality (XR) technologies, exploring content regulation, AI integration, and practical applications in diverse fields. Attendees engaged with experts in the field, discussing challenges and potentials while presenting impactful XR experiences. Our keynote speaker showcased how emerging technology is being used to cultivate community and interdisciplinarity in ethical and accessible ways.
UC Tech: Fostering Cross-campus Collaboration around XR (2023)
The UC Tech Event was designed to explore what it may take to build a coalition of interest in XR across the UCs. Attendees touched upon practical points such as equipment sharing, current lab practices, and similarities with other UC-wide groups. Additionally, key speakers shared their insights into sandbox, resource building, and hopes for the future.
3DXR Day (2022)
In coordination with National 3D Day on March 22, 2022, the first annual 3D/XR Day brought together the UCLA community around extended reality technologies across disciplines. The event celebrated the launch of Bruinverse, a VR environment filled with UCLA’s latest XR projects and workshops, and attendees had the opportunity to join in a scavenger hunt raffle culminating in a half-day summit on April 6 with a keynote, lightning talks, and engaging conversations on all things 3D and immersive.
